Taking bold housing action

Beach is committed to ensuring housing needs are met for everyone who wants to live in Hillsboro by championing effective use of Metro’s Affordable Housing Bond measure and Hillsboro’s Affordable Housing Implementation Plan to build new affordable housing, increase the number of housing units as quickly as possible, and increase home ownership opportunities.

Combating homelessness

It’s not compassionate nor acceptable to have so many people living outside. And, to change that, we need a range of interventions to permanently get folks off the streets and into housing and care. That means investments in supportive housing, transitional shelters, mental health care, and addiction treatment.

Expanding living-wage jobs

Part of the work of ensuring our neighbors can get, keep, and advance in living wage jobs is attracting businesses that share these values. Beach has already made strides by ensuring the Hillsboro Technology Park, a 700-acre area of North Hillsboro, is responsibly developed to position Hillsboro as a desirable place to work and grow businesses.

Advocating for safe transportation

Beach is passionate about finding safe solutions for everyone who uses Hillsboro’s transportation system. With four years of experience on the Transportation Committee, Beach is proud of the additional safe options for multi-modal transportation, including more than one hundred miles of new bike paths and ensuring freight can efficiently move through Hillsboro.

Protecting our environment

Beach believes Hillsboro can be a place where everyone prospers with clean air and water, efficient use of resources, and effective waste management. Beach commits to championing policies that will prevent further damage to our environment, including preserving old-growth trees, and reducing heat islands.

Preserving public safety

Public safety requires community policing and crisis response teams who are trained to effectively and appropriately serve our city. Beach voted to form the Hillsboro Police Community Advisory Group, and she will continue to support Hillsboro’s work to ensure law enforcement officers represent the communities they serve and possess necessary language skills and cultural literacy.
